Hey Louie! I just installed my 2nd set of apes today on my 05eg. Think i should take it down to the local stealer to have it inspected? I rode it about 60 miles this afternoon and nothing fell off so does that mean i should be ok?
I cant see your local dealer charging you for a quick inspection, plus it would be nice to add one more experience to the thread. If they do give ya a freebie, give the guys a tip for lunch or a beer later that evening. You can never thank your mechanic enough, and they appreciate hearing it.
hey 05 Train I think most of us would define this forum as a place where we both seek advice and share our experiences, both successes and failures with others. If that makes us Ignorant then do us a favor and please stop being guilty by association. Really please stop and go find another thread to comment on. I would like to hear Louie's opinion, not your opinion of his opinion.

So any of you replace just the upper abs line (from the bar to the controller), or is it more common to replace the mid and dual lower abs lines as well. Probably better to just do the whole thing all at once but I really have no need to replace the lowers.

Last year when we were finalizing the line lengths for our ABS cable kits, we got a bike from the Dealer and installed a set of apes and replaced only the top line to check measurements. I think that is a pretty common practice for shops ordering individual cables as apposed to a whole kit, especially if you are staying with black cables and lines.

Train, I may have missed some of your posts in other threads but my impression has been you were usually helpful and offered good advice. I'm not sure what's up here. I don't think Louie is out of line. If someone is confident enough to bleed their brakes without ABS then they should have no problems with ABS. I've done several sets of bars with ABS and as long as you only work with one section of the line either above or below the ABS module and don't introduce air into the module there is no problem.
