Sorry , working 6 to 6 nite's this week. Thanks for all the feed back. I am going to look into getting the seat done. I think your right as giving more thigh clearance would help me greatly. I still wont it lower in the a%$. Thanks for info on 412's. Guy at work said stock hd dayna shock ride good.( just thinkin ). Yes I do were boots and this helps alot, except for when its 100 deg weather ( 115 heat index ) in charleston , sc . I had the lowering blocks on my bike !!!! but that should be another thread. Took them off because of light pulsation of the rear brake. In stealer ship 2 times (warranty) I could not believe when they told me that all touring bikes rear brakes pulsate under normal stoping!!!! (not going into abs mode) and the lowering block could be causing it!!! ( 2 up , handle bars shake wile braking )Dialed the rear rotor @ .0055" to .006" in tol. , no cal. drag. I'm not done with the stealer yet !!! It needs a new rotor and an alignment check. That said , the rear blocks do not give the correct shock angle, I up graged to grade 8 bolts Though.
You do have a good point !!! lowering blocks + 13" 940's ( 12" on bike ) -1" ride hight. MMMMMMMM. Thanks vtwinbob for that one. All sugrestions were great and I think with the combination of these I should have my knees handlebar high with my feet on the ground. David !!!!
Talked with progressive. Told them if they developed a 11" 412 , 430 , 440 , ect, shock system for the 2010 up fhlt's , they would sell a but load. They told me they would bring it up in there development meeting . we shall see. David
Have you Looked into Legend Air Suspensions? I'm a shorty myself (5'4") and could not ride the bagger I do without Legend. I can lower it to reach comfortably and maneuver with ease at stops and when parking without compromising (in fact it has improved) my smooth ride and handling. Check out their website to see how much it'd lower your bike. They have all kinds of model specific info.... that helped me a ton!
I lowered my 2011 SG using the Road 6 Customs lowering kit. $40 off Ebay or their site. Installed in 20 minutes with no problems. I set mine to 1" lowered, but you can choose from 1"/2"/or 3".
I can't feel any difference in the ride or handling.
I have that same kit on my bike, not bad ! I just wonted to find a good ride with a 1" lower shock, and do away with the lowing kit. The best I can do, is to use the 11.5 progressive 412's or 440's with the lowering kit @ -1" . total -1.5" . Thanks, David
i checked into lower kits bitch'm baggers and ended up sending my stock seat to MeanCity Cycle to have it lowerd and narrowed so i could flat foot it with my 2008FLHRC . I also had memory foam added for comfort . when i got the seat back it looked great was 2.5" lowwer and a cpl inchs narrower . buy far way cheaper than new shocks only $144 including shipping both ways .
+1
Mean City Cycle does a lot, for a little, and makes the seat more comfortable in the process. If they can lower you enough (send them an e-mail), it's the best way.
