Hello Everyone, I purchased my FLHTK on 9/9/11 and took delivery of it on 9/22/11 due to some mods I wanted done. When I test rode the beast, I didn't like the excessive amount of heat on the right side. So after some discussion with the shop fellows at the dealership I decided that I wanted to keep the machine as close to stock as possible. So it was recommended to add the H-D Fan Kit to help cool off some of the heat. I wasn't so sure it was going to work, but I figure it was worth a try. When I got the bike home late Thursday, I added a set of highway pegs. Took the bike out today for its first ride (it finally stopped raining here long enough) since buying it. All I can say is WOW what a ride! Smooth. The heat issue is better and I found that I ride most of the time with my feet on the highway pegs and so the heat issue is minimal when using them. When I move back to the floorboards, I get to feel the heat again, so I just ordered the floorboard extensions, not just for the heat, but the location of the floorboards is not what I am used to from my V-Star 1300 that has the floorboards further away from the body of the bike, which makes a more comfortable ride for me. My only remaining issue I have is that I can not find Neutral when the engine is running. I have read the forums about trying all kinds of tricks, I was able once to roll on the throttle and get it to pop into Neutral, but I think that was just a fluke and will never happen again! I really would like to solve this issue easily. Overall I think that the Electra Glide Ultra Limited is an excellent and well made machine. Though it is a heavy beast, it is very agile while under motion. I found it interesting at how quiet the bike runs when on the road, much quieter than my stock V-Star 1300 but louder at idle than the V-Star. I also want to thank everyone who posted comments over the past few years. I was able to get most of my questions answered without re-posting them. Regards, Ben
Mine was almost impossible when new- I had better luck delivering the required finesse with the heel shifter (only time I ever use it). It will get better as it breaks in, and it'll get better after the first clutch adjustment at the 1000 mile service.

Yep mine was the same way but after clutch adjustment on the 1k service, no problem at all now.
I have 12,000 miles on mine. Neutral is very easy to find now, especially after putting the bike on a lift and getting the primary oil level spot on (bottom of clutch retainer housing) I also refilled with Dexeron 3 at the service interval. this really seemed to help reduce problems with clutch drag and finding neutral. The "clunk" when shifting into gear is greatly reduced as well.
All the tricks mentioned above help but for me this workes every time. lift your foot up and rest it on the shifter arms with the pivit point under the middle of your foot. Gently push down with your heal and as your foot is also resting on the "toe shifter" side it keeps it from popping past natural and into second. Works every time, hot, cold, running or not.

I just went outside and tried this trick and BAM, it pops into Neutral right away with little effort. In/Out, In/Out over and over it works. I owe you a Beer. I am so happy. And thanks to everyone else for their words of encouragement as to the more miles I put on the bike it will be easier to get into Neutral. Unfortunately today my Darling Wife put the first scratch into the top of the right saddle bag when she was getting off the bike today. Oh well, it was bound to happen sooner or later.
