I believe that the later years had a different compound on the shoes... I have heard of many of the earlier 88's going quickly, but the later ones lasting longer. Of course, for the peace of mind, I don't blame you. I have an 06 with about 15,500 miles on it and am just starting to think about it. I will most likely let it go another 15,000.

I checked mine on my 05 Road King at 34,000 miles and they were still ok but every motor will be different.

Yeah definatley, I do take it fairy easy on the old girl though. I've heard aggressive riding, and engine braking excessively will increase wear.

Miss understood thinking you were getting a manual-sorry, Dawg's the man. Obviously there is a transition of when Harley fixed the timing chain problem, be it 06 or 07 on different bikes. Does anyone know the dates and models of the change so we can get it written down here. When you look at Muds' pictures it's hard to believe Harley didn't recall these bikes.
