I know you likely meant decel popping when you said backfiring. Decel popping is harmless, backfiring is another matter.
Yeah well, backfiring and popping all winds up being used interchangeably. What we all really mean is igniting unused fuel in the exhaust system when we close the throttle plates, whether by vacuum leak, exhaust leak, lean condition or a combination of all 3 and may as well toss in rich too, although richening up the situation is what seems to alleviate the problem, which is a mystery when you think about it. We would (or should?) think that reducing fuel would put less of it in the exhaust system to ignite in the first place. No?
Thanks for the tips. I will make some adjustments tomorrow and let everyone know the out come.
Yes it was backfiring. Scared the crap out of me one time when I was in a zone. It is also decel popping, so hopefully I can get all of that fixed
Mine has had the decell popping reduced to a growl by bringing the numbers up in the zero column but every now and then I'll get a backfire from the rear cylinder that sounds like a handgun. Of course it's only in front of crowds or at 10 oclock at night in a dead quiet neighborhood.
I tried new exhaust gaskets and installing the slip ons with high temp RTV and it did nothing for me.

I found that the factory installer pushed the crossover pipe too far onto the crossover joint on the header. At least on the 09's/10's you should see a raised section close to the header exhaust flapper valve.
IMHO if your crossover is pushed too far onto the joint it will ride up and over the raised lip. I don't see how it can get a seal if that is the case.
I pulled my crossover pipe away from the joint lip just enough te place it back on parent pipe and re-tightened it. I also added a RevPerf EMS system so not sure which one fixed the decel pop, but it's gone...
Could be worth a quick look....
