Almost this exact scenario for my wife on a non-ABS Softail Deluxe. Mother and her fawn ran out in from of us. She swerved the doe and began braking. She lost traction on the back wheel for maybe 6 feet, but did EXACTLY was she learned in MSF on maximum braking force. She reduced speed from 45 to 15ish (I was on wing), but she hit the second deer. I have ABS on my EGUL and I stopped way short. If she had ABS, she would have a bike and not be in occupational/physical therapy right now.
Note: She will get back on a bike once she gets better and her new Deluxe will have ABS!
The ABS saved me last thur.
Just before going thru the soutbound tunnel at the Golden Gate.Traveling at about 50 turned my head to answer my wife, next thing I know the Tahoe in front of me is hitting the brakes!I hit both brakes has hard as I could and stopped with feet of the rear bumper. Was able to keep the bike up.Scared the crap out of me.
