Riding home at around 7:30 last night, 40 MPH on a contry road, three dear just ran out in front of me! My riding buddy allways say's he hates riding at that hour. Anyway, I was able to stop within a couple of feet of them, straight as an arrow with very slight chirping from the rear tire.
I knew I'ld have to use the ABS someday. I'm really glad they work as expected!
I've had to use mine a couple of times. Both times were to avoid hitting some idiot that pulled out in front of me. One of the cases where I had to use the ABS I'm convinced I would have gone down had I had standard brakes.
I was riding home from Street Vibes yesterday in the rain. Hit some braking bumps, would have locked the front but the ABS saved me and my girl. Totally worth it in my book. Otherwise I would have some serious road rash on my legs...
Mine worked as expected when 65 mph traffic did a panic stop in front of me.
Feels funny if you hit a few pebbles when almost stopped at a corner so I never was sure how it would translate to a 65 mph full out panic stop when youe need it most. It was great. I know that ideally I should have been able to squeeze the brakes right up to the threshhold without skidding but in this case I didn't and the ABS made it a non-incident.
I've lived through rear wheel lock ups and both wheels locked that's why I now have ABS haven't needed yet but sooner or later it's going to come into play to save the day. I practice breaking about once a month just to keep it a reflex and not something I have to think about.
We had one real close call last summer that made a beliver out of me.
When we got stopped it was so close that I could have touched the side of the truck that made a left in front of me and the wife.
It's ABS from now on for me!
