well after putting 11,000 miles on this year since may on my 26" SG - vee rubber, id do it again... 2 iron butt rides and 2 long trips this year. Yes its a little more harsh of a ride, but anything you put a lower profile tire is going to do that. handled fine in deals gap, granted i wasn't out to drag knee when i was down there.
as for the vee rubber tire, its impressed me with how it handles in the rain and durability (some of which i think is the larger dia). now if metlzer made them i prob would switch to them, cause im a ME880 fanboy. Hasn't leaked yet - knock on wood lol.
Appreciate it Slothy, I look at those pics of your trip and your ride almost DAILY. Gives me alot of Ideas. Glad you chimed in, gives me more confidence on going with a 26. Like I said earlier, not going to be taking cross country trips, just hwys and interstates with the ole man, maybe some overnight stays out of town. NOT GONNA BE A TRAILER QUEEN!!
u sold your deluxe?? one of my favorite bikes over in the softail forum bro. i'm sure you'll hook your road glide up real nice. ive ridden my boys street glide with a 26" a bunch of times, and to be honest, i think it handles pretty good.
Fame, thanks for the props, Im kinda bummed out but hopefully it will pass in a couple of days. Im seriously thinkin about the 26, Im not interested in doin the dragon or a bunch of twisties on it. Its not a Cafe racer. lol And you can bet that I will do the RG up just like I did the deluxe. May take alittle longer and ALOT more money, but hey you cant take the money with you, so hell with it, Im gonna go all out on a RG. Time to water that money tree in the back yard. Thought that thing has wilted a long time ago.
