Default LCD oil temp dipsticks - worth it?

For those using lcd dipsticks, are they worth the cost? Just wondering primarily about reliability and accuracy. Thx for any input...

I have had one for a cople of years now. Really like it. It allows me to super easily check the oil, no mess. I find it very accurate for oil level. As far as temp, I have never tested it, but it does seem to work well.

I've seen these for a while and always wondered about their usefulness.

I am not a contortionist and cannot bend to where I could see one while riding down the road. Looking at one after one has stopped to see if the oil is too hot seems like checking the lock on the gate after the horse has escaped.

A temperature gauge that you can easily monitor while riding seems like a much more useful addition.

Had mine about 2 years and the oil pressue gauge broke. It still shows the temps but the oil level is always low.

It is a great way to chart temps , especially if u have changed anything!!! And at a light I can check it without getting off my bike so it is pretty handy. I used a certified to 600* Laser guided temp prob and it read 4* off / high @ 236 vs 232 one the Harley dipstick. at 79* the laser read was higher by 2*, at 77* on the HDdipstick. It also reads over full when u use the stock dip to set your oil level after a change. But lower it by an ounce or so and it no longer said over full.
Yes it is expensive, but as a tool to monitor this expensive machine, YES it is worth the money, labor to install is the second best part.
If one has a fairing bike, get the air temp guage out and put in an oil temp sending unit and hook it up with a new oil temp gauge and that is the way I intend to go.

It works well and it sure makes checking the oil level easy. The temp gauge works well also. I can check mine at stop lights without too much trouble.
