I think that's were a person's budget comes into play.

I spent $1500 on my build, and I did all the work myself. That was my budget, and I'm very happy with the results of the build.

I know there are better 95" builds out there, but I also know that they are going to cost allot more then $1500. And in the end, what will I really gain for another $1000 or more...........maybe 5-10 HP or Torque or maybe use of a famous name?

If you already have the 26G cams, I would go ahead and spend the other $550 and have Big Boyz port your heads, bore your cylinders, and provide the Cometic head gasket. $130 for 1550 flattops, $65 for top-end gasket kit, and $140 for adjustable pushrods.

I believe you followed my build that I did a month ago, so you know how much research I did leading up to it.

Steve

That's a better price than the quote he gave me.
$2800 for reworking my heads, and a set of Andrews cams.
Did you talk to the son, or his father? The father knows his stuff,
and will quote you a better price.

Dawg.... I'm with Steve on this one. THat's a bit of radical build (.615's! and how much compression?) for a daily rider and a bagger at that.

I'm sure it would make great numbers, but ..... man, how "ridable" and reliable woud it be? What about valve train? How are the ramps on those cams... are they inherrantly noisey?

If $2500 takes some saving, then how much might it cost to "maintain" a build like that?

I dunno man....

I've built several just like Steves and NEVER had a problem with any of them.

Reading your posts is interesting. If you have any doubts about their ability at R&R take a test ride on one of their test mules (the rubber tired ones)I have ridden several of those jewels 127" and 155".They all wound me so tight, it took a long time to come back to reality. In my 40+ years of building Harley motors, and meeting the Ronzello's,my search ended there.Reg had suggestions for me also, and they were to extract all the hp and tq available. In my case because of exhaust there will a comprimize. No problem, there is plenty of hp and tq to go around.

Well thats where we are all different I guess, I would spend the extra $1000 and get it done by R&R as in the long run its going to run longer and better. A friend of mine that has a bike shop here locally has a 190" R&R in his new build bike and the quality of that engine is unreal. I'd say R&R is building some of the hottest Vtwin engines in the U.S today. dawg like you say you told Reggie the type of riding you do so I am sure it will be built for your app. The same guy that has the 190" R&R has an eglide with a 124" in it that he put over 90,000 km on touring but when you want to play will throw sparks from the exhaust scraping on the back as he wheelies it with the twist of the throttle Only thing you might have to do your clutch also so you can get that good build to the ground.

I'm putting the 26g's in for now. Then, I'll go from there. If I end up with R&R's package then so be it. If I end up doing a 95 build with the 26g's then so be it. Like Hackd always says "In the end it's all hack" Can always change parts

Dawg,in the end it is your machine, enjoy all the things you want to try.In my experience it seems everytime I try the latest and greatest, next year there will be something else out that is even better. It is the way the world revolves.Try those 26G's and let us know how they work.

I'm about 10miles from R&R here in Derry, NH. I've seen some of the work they've done and they have a great rep. What I did hear though was if you want your bike back in time for spring riding....get it there now. They're super busy it seems.
