I am running the rear speaker wiring on my 09 street glide. The harley instructions say to run the wiring under the tank console. It doesn't look like there is enough room. Is this right?
Also where do you put all wires from the in the fairing? Thanks
Haven't routed the tour pak speaker wiring, but I'm doing the HD saddlebag lid speakers, and those instructions say to remove the gas tank and route the wires in the harness tray under the tank. Interesting for essentially the same wires (rear speakers) that your instructions say to route them under the tank console, while the speaker lids go under the tank.
As for the wiring inside the fairing, you'll need to tuck the wiring in as best you can. Below and to the sides of the HK head unit works, and, if you can, along the top rear of the HK. There's very little room at the front of the HK radio or its front edge for storing excess wiring.
Thanks for the help Carl. I ended up pulling the tank and routed the wires in the plastic tray. I ran the interconnect harness next to the main harness up and over the radio. Maybe the instructions are for the older style fuel tanks?
If you can, post the "J" number of the installation instructions. I'll be adding tour pak speakers this winter and would like to see those instructions even though I'll be using aftermarket speakers and tour pak pods.
