Little buggers come out of nowhere - there's a line of trees along small creek where we live & the herd's growing larger every year. Always keep eyes peeled while riding dusk/dawn & moreso during fall now that they're skittish from being hunted. Glad you're OK to continue trip.

Thanks for all of the replies. I stopped at Tripp's in Amarillo and replaced the driving light and lens for the blinker. I always carry a tube of "steel" epoxy, used it to repair the tourpack. Looks like hell but it's holding up okay.

I'm just north of Fort Collins, Colorado right now. Didn't see a single deer all day or this evening . I'm heading up to Yellowstone in the morning, too much snow in the forecast for Estes Park.

Again, thanks for all the replies.

Glad you are ok. Wife hit a deer two months ago on her Deluxe. The bike is totaled. Wife has a busted hand and ACL tear still healing.

Glad you are okay. I've seen first hand what happens when bike and deer collide and you are VERY lucky!

Glad your okay. The Harley touring bikes sure can minimize a deers impact. I hit a deer in June probably going about 45 mph. The bikes front left crash bar hit the deers shoulder and it's heard hit my passing light also. I was a little less fortunate in that I was knocked over and slid down the highway for a ways. I was lucky to be able to get back on the bike and finish my trip. The front left crash bar saved my left leg and right front and rear crash bars saved my right leg when I went sliding with bike. Crash bars let me walk away from this one. Can't say enough about a bike that saved me from bodily injury and basically no damage after putting a deer down, sliding down the road and off into the grassy shoulder. The deer was still laying in the middle of the road with it's head coming up and looking around. I think it was waiting for a semi to come by and help it off to the shoulder of the road.

Fortunately, Ohio puts up deer crossing signs to show the deer where they are allowed to cross
That's funny. I was riding home yesterday through SE Ohio on 35 and 23 and was keeping pace with a F-150, thinking that it would plow any deer before I would.

I see you are from Columbus, what part of town are you in?

Mike, I live on the NE side close to Easton. Came home the other night and saw a button buck standing in the middle of my residential street. The urban deer seem to be doing quite well.

I'm back home now and can finally post some photos of the damage.

Front of the bike. The spotlight and blinker were broken and the light bar was bent.

The deer hit the rear saddlebag. The saddlebag guard did its job.

Damage to the tourpack. Thankfully the patch job held throughout the rest of the trip.

I hit snow about ten miles outside of Cheyenne, Wyoming. Thankfully it wasn't sticking. Cold rain until just north of Casper, Wyoming (I was heading to Cody).

Yellowstone received some early snowfall the night before I arrived.

A sow and what looked to be a yearling in Yellowstone. What an amazing place, I'll be heading back next spring or summer when it's a little warmer.

The cold was definitely worth it to experience scenery like this.
