Even Power Commander advises to have a bike dynotuned when running the autotune.

For those that think a Dyno puts to much wear and tear on a bike, I would have to disagree, riding a bike that is out of tune is alot harder on a bike than running it on a dyno. I did have one let go of me once, out of the thousands of bikes i've tuned. A piston broke, but I was only at around 4000 RPM's on my first pass when it let go, so IMO it was just a metter of time before it would've let go on the street, and it probably would've wrecked the LADY that rides it because the wheel locked up.
There it is. Well said. I tried both. Dyno is the way to go. The caveat however is indeed getting the right technician on the Dyno.

Default Dyno Tuning-not just for racing

I can also say that while a dyno tune should get them a few additional peak horsepower, that isn't the whole story, the rideability will be so much better when your bike is tuned properly. Your bike will should be so much smoother and efficient at part throttle than you even thought was possible. Your mileage should go way up as well. The only real problem is finding a top notch tuner is just as hard as finding a top notch "anything", the top 1 percentile at anything are few and far between. I am very fortunate that I have an extremely knowledgable and meticulous tuner/dyno operator very close to me. He doesn't care whether you have a DynoJet Powerwhatever, TTS , or SE Tuner, he just gets it done.

Running your motor on a Dyno is not going to hurt it at all, unless the tuner doesnt know what the hell he is doing. A properly SEPST or TTS tuned bike will beat out all others. Period. Argue if you will. Talk to the people that run the dynos. As long as they arnt trying to sell you a tuner they push.

I will back your statement up. I have tuned bikes with PC's then TTS, or SERT or SEPST, And we sell them all, but like you said, I always seam to be able to get a little more out of the TTS, SERT, or SEPST.

Interesting. Looks like 3-1 in favor of dyno-ing.. to build a custom map.
Thanks for your comments and taking a part in the poll.

Update: Had my bike dyno-ed yesterday @ Dakota V Twin (Thanx Randy & Nick) in Spearfish SD by where I live,
due in part to the responses to the poll and WOWOW!! What a difference!! Much smoother!! $$$ Very Well Spent!! Like a different bike now..
Not too mentiion the bike running cooler.... Another bonus...
It must be due to both cylinders being tuned?? They should come like this from the factory.. What a shame..
I'm a believer in dyno-ing now..
To all you on the fence it is probably one of the best/better things that you can do for your bike..
Do it..you don't know what you're missing

It's truly amazing the difference a quality tune makes. Glad you're happy with the bike.

I was happy w/the bike w/just the stage 1 in it, and then thought that I would be proactive and get better cams for it, not too agressive ramps or anything, just a 525 lift, and then put in the autotuner to go with the PC-V that I had w/the stage 1, and try to avoid a dyno.

I got a map from a member that had a similar set-up, cams, pipes, etc. After the install I had a decel pop, and even w/the auto-tuner never could get the decel pop out and that was working with everyone @F/M and Dynojet, and several members from this site.
This was even after putting on new exhaust clamps and checking the exhaust bolts, one more time.

I got so frustrated that I finally just decided to scrap the autotuner as I could not see it doing anything, other than causing me more grief, so I decided to disconnect it and call it a day with it and have it dyno-ed.

I still have minimal decel pop, but that is after it has been wound up pretty tight.

However, all in all this was/has been a positive, for at least the bike is running better than it ever has before.. since it has been dyno-ed.

As far as the decel pop, I guess that I'll have to live w/it.. for the time being anyway.

You're decel pop should be very easy to get rid of, just add fuel to your idle columns above 1500 RPM's and it should take care of it.
