Default Bars for Ultra?

You guys riding around on Ultra's what bars are you using?

I want to change my handlebars, but I'm very weary about the swap after my experience on my RKC with the Carlini's, it was great when it was done, but man what a pain.

This bike has CC, Heated Grips, etc, and I would like to retain all of that. One of the guys local to me stated he likes the Wild one bars because they're the cleanest inside and easiest to wire, I would like some opinions.

I'm 5'11, 235lbs, with a 32" inseam and was running 17" Carlini's on my RKC, don't want to go that high this time, want to stay about even with the fairing, looking for some suggestions.

Thanks

I have the khrome werks +2 sweepers on mine and they are great bars and very comfortable. I'm not so sure about how easy it will be since you think the RK was hard, but the bars are great and you only need to change the clutch cable with the +2.

The hard part for me was the wiring on the RKC, the Carlini bars were not the cleanest on the inside and the 90 degree bend made them a pain with the welds not being clean inside. I would have expected much better for how much those damn bars cost. The RK didn't have the extra wiring of the CC and heated grips and was a bear to run the wires internally, so I can only imagine how much more difficult the wiring would be with the extra wires on the Ultra.

From your post numbers - you've been on this forum for some time.. this is one of the most ask questions but since your a Fire Fighter - I know you are a little slow.......

OK< pull in your claws.... Iam a retired Fire fighter (35 years) got to poke a little fun at ya..

OK, back to your question.. I have had my EG now since 04 and have had several bars on it.. Actually, I really liked the Wild1 575's - that was until I changed my EG into a RG and put the Wild on 517's on that and road from CA to DC and back - I LOVED the pull back feel - at first I didn't like them but after 6500 mile trip - Great.. Well, after two years, I changed the RG back to a EG and put my 575's back on... well, I didn't care for them as much so I looked around and went with klockwerks - Had the same pull back and feel as the 517's but they were NOT a chubby - got the black coated and ran all my wires thru the bars,,,, did that in 08 and still have them and love them..

good luck on your choice

BTW - when is your KMA date??

After doing much research I went with the Wild One's 577's on my Ultra Classic. I really like them and for sure would not have gone with anything shorter. I can't help but wonder how I would have liked the 14's.

I like the Khromewerks 300515 +2 wide sweepers.
I'm 5'8" about 152 lbs with the stock seat and Harley backrest.
I didn't run the wires internally but you can with these.
I used a Harley +3" black clutch cable and kuryakyn polyurethane bushings.
The whole project with trans gasket was around $130.00 all together.
Nothing fancy , just more comfortable bars for me.
Much better wrist angle than stock , and closer to me while riding.
The project isn't "hard" but is time consuming.....

Running wires thru bars know matter who makes them is a pain in the ***. But, if I'm going to do it, I'm going to make it worth wild. I've used Cyclesmith and Hill Country Custom, 13" and 16". I have 16's now and lovem. Side note, which ever bars you get, debur all your holes where the wires go in and out, and open them up to make it easier to get them started.

Good luck

+1 on that. Not only that but it allows you to rotate your hand controls a little more without pinching the wires. Many people have pinched their wires and had radio or other problems.
