I have 2 Sundowner seats, one of which is for the Street Glide specifically.
It is the new-er version and has rubber bumpers on the bottom of it and has the seat tongue riveted to the seat w/2 metal rivets.
I bought an 08 smooth model from a forum member and notice that the seat tongue sits in a piece/bracket of plastic and then has 2 plastic ribs protruding.. and 2 plastic screws/rivets holding it together or to the seat.
I wonder if this plastic bracket has been changed on the newer seats to the bumpers due to a design flaw of the plastic bracket scratching or denting the fender or?
Does anyone know about this?
As far as I know, the 09 is a different mount. I bought a sundowner shortly after I bought my motorcycle. (09 FLHX). It doesn't have bumpers on the underside. The one bolt etched into the paint. I suspect I'll need a new paint job. Touchup paint and electrical tape allows me to keep the seat...
