Default hid lights

I'm interested in installing an HID light kit. What brands are you guys/gals using? Pros vs cons. There seems to be some concern with daytime visibility and how much road ahead of the bike is actually lit up. What about the longevity of the kit(ballast in particular)? These were some of the concerns of some older threads, so technology may have changed since then.

My Electra had 55w HID's in the main headlight as well as the passing lamps. They were ridiculously bright. Too bright in fact. At night, when I looked left or right my eyes would have to readjust to the darkness. Once I stopped for gas and restarted the bike before the ballasts were "warmed up" and they didn't work at all for a while. I just took them out because all of the lenses were becoming discolored and the passing lamp buckets were actually melted. I can't remember the brand but the receipts I saw for them indicated that they were rather spendy.

But, I put a Didge Viper HID headlight in my Buell and it was good. Still too bright though. I don't like em...especially if they aren't aimed properly and I'm coming up on a vehicle/bike with them. Makes me want to swerve.

From what I have seen, most of the ballasts are all made by the same manufacturer. The lamp itself is supposed to last many times longer than a filliment type bulb.
As far as lighting power, it's much better than the brightest lamps that Harley sells as an upgrade.
You will be happy with them.

Bought the SE dual bulb kit for my bike, Then went with xenonbargains xenon hid headlight kit.
I got the 35watt, in the 6000 K with both H9 bulbs.
It's plenty bright, draws very little voltage, and has small ballast.
Comes with a lifetime guarantee .
Took the 881L bulbs out of my running light, and out 894L clear tip.
Got the bulbs from Auto Zone.

I have a set I paid $70 for on e-bay (two lights bi-high and low beam with 2 ballast etc) complete kit, needed whole set for the RG, anyway I'm as happy as can be. They are brighter than the more expensive PIAA halogen bulbs I had before, no issues.

Thanks for all the feedback. Anyone have pictures at night from drivers seat? I know their is plenty of brightness. My only concern now is the lit path in front of the bike.

A buddy of mine and me has bought about 7 different kits. Yes you can make it brighter.
But the light just ain't right with some of them.
I don't like Bixenon as much.
The HD screaming eagle headlight kit with 2 bulbs and the xenon bargains dual bulb head light kit in H9 bulbs is bright. And shines way down the road. The street signs jump out at you from way down the road.
You don't want to stand in front of it and look at the lights.
They are too bright. Glad I only went with 6000K That's on the edge of blue

They may be illegal....someone said they were too bright. The bulbs usually don't conform to the optics of the housing, so excessive glare is thrown out. I'm all for lumens and candlepower, but use them wisely.

My buddy has had his for 2 yrs. I got mine about 10 months ago.
Had very few cars to flash their light.
Nobody's gonna tell me They are illegal, its in a HD headlight.
They just put out a lot more light.
Once you put them in you will not take them back out.
