Ok guys.... cant find what Im looking for...... Ive got a 2001 Roadking Classic, Stock 88in. engine with V&H duals, and a stock CV carb with a Stage 1 Jet Kit... How many miles should I be able to go on a tank of gas?
The best gas mileage that I can get is 37 mpgs no matter if Im riding alone or with my wife with the bike loaded down..... I baby this bike and it is not burning too rich as well... Sunday, we rode to the NC Mtns and I had to turn it on reserve around 155 miles. I refueled the tank around 160 mark... I had 3 tenths of gas left... Is this around the right fuel distance that I should be getting?? Any and all input will help..
I just traded my 01 RKC and I would get 40-45mpg constantly, but mine was Fuel injected fuel light would come on between 165-175, sounds like you might be a little rich.
My 1999 Road King basically mirrors yours. Stock engine, stock carb, stage 1 kit, BUB pipes, high flow air cleaner... And my mileage mirrors yours too. Either it's normal or we both have problems.

I think that they both are right.... I bet a 95'' kit down the road may help.. My bike seems a little under powered due to the weight and the 88'' motor. Just spoke to a good friend that tunes Harleys and he is real good.. I think Im going to let him tune it on the dyno to see if that will help. If its a little rich, it may be the problem... or there just might not be a problem.. Either way, I will know..
I've never put my stock 88" on the freeway and burned a tank in fifth gear. I always ride the two lane backroads and run 45-65 mph in different gears and rpms. That said, I get low 40's and fuel light comes on around 175-180 miles.

I'd be interested to see what you find out on the dyno.
