I ride an 08 Stret glide. The 6th gear light will will go out along with the cruise control going off at random times. i also have a rear turn signal that goes off and on randomly as well. I am aware it is electrical in nature. I have had it at the dealer numerous times since June for weeks at a time. They have replaced the clutch switch, neutral switch, ECM and tried a different TSSM. Now tech services wants them to start swapping out one piece at a time to try ane locate the problem. To me this is unacceptable and nothing but a crap shoot. Any help or advise would be helpful.
is this bike under warr? if it is let them fix it the way they want. on some of these weird problems, sometimes that is the only way to fix them. electronic issues do some real weird things
Just have the ESP warranty. We may have to, but the dealer is also questioning the replacement of one part at a time. I'm thinking of swithing dealers to get a new perspective on the issue.

Are you running a Power Commander? If so, there is a setting that you need to disable.
Already been in the shop for several weeks with some new components and still have the same fault. eliminate the simple stuff first yourself. Part of the turn signal and brake circuits share a ground, ther might be a relationship between your twitchy signal and the brake circuit causing your CC to switch off. Physically trace the harness and look for damaged wires from the main harness connetor under the seat to the rear brake switch on the right side by the exhaust, all the way to the signal and tail light housing. Performing a basic inspection of the harness is slow and not very technically glamorous, but given the history of service so far I doubt they even did it. The techs doing your work suck, ANYONE can swap parts.
Follow up to this problem. I eneded up taking the bike to a different dealer (C&A in Plain City, Ohio). After one day the tech found three exposed wires that were shorting out against the bracing inside the fairing and an unattached ground wire. After fixing the issues and a 100 mile test rided everything is functioning properly. Needless to day this dealership has a new customer. I will not let the other dealership touch my bike again. Before I took the bike outthe last time i specifically asked the manager if they checked all the wiring and his response was every inch of it. Yeah right. I highly recommend C&A to anyone needing service. From what I hear they have one of the only master techs if not the only one in Ohio.
In case anybody is wondering, this dealership has three locations in the Columbus Ohio area. I don't recommend them. On the service managers last email to us all he was concerned about was the money the dealership wouldn't recoup by him working on it.
