On a 2009 Ultra,is it possible to install said comp. backwards and run for 15,000 miles before the nut works loose?

just behind the handlebars!! just kidding!!

I can't see how you could put it in backwards in the first place. what is supposed to be wrong? (besides the nut coming loose?) Sounds like the nut just came loose, and did whatever damage it will do

There's not a lot of room for it to come loose before it starts tearing up your outer primary. I just can't picture how any part of it could have been installed backwards.

He probably means the springs were not installed properly.

I guess that could be, but it seems it would have been giving vibrations, and or clunking well before the 15k mark

Maybe the OP means that the compensator fastener screw came loose, and he presumes the cause may be because the comp wasn't installed properly?
Which is true cuz if the comp was installed properly the screw wouldn't come loose.

Default s.e comp

just did mine a few weeks ago.. the only thing that could possibly be installed incorrectly would be the springs and you would know it rite away..you would have a bunch of slack and a real bang in the primary..i think it would be obvious rt away...as for the bolt comming loose , did you torque to 100 lbs, slack off and retorque to 150 lbs?..the bolt has loctite on it from the factory...
