Default SE Compensator

I am sitting in a motel room in Reno after about 2000 miles of riding on my way back home
2010 Ultra....12,000 miles on clock , had my compensator changed at 10K service electively....did not want trouble on my trip so I ate cost and had it done. Put the SE version....could have waited for OEM failure but I tend to be somewhat **** about this kind of stuff.
For what its worth I could tell immediately after the change on starting the bike. did not sound like a Thunder clap or two 2x4 being slapped together on start. other than that......I-95 south of Goldfield to Vegas has construction on it....and gas in death valley is $5.75 for premium at Paramint

I hear ya. I put the SE comp on my 2007 Ultra at about 10,000 miles. Makes a world of difference. HD should put it on from the factory. But. If they did they could not soak us for the "upgrade."

I changed mine after my starter needed replacement. The windup, the slap and kickback ultimately ruined the original starter. I replaced mine at 40k miles. I've got over 50k on mine now and I agree with the previous poster, they should have done this from the factory.

It made my 07 better than new with 63K on it now. I have no need to trade, I also have no money to trade, so it worked out well!

FWIW, the 2012 model has it as standard equipment.

I changed it at the same time I did this 106 upgrade. With the compression release cams she turns over smooth anyway with no resistance. Even on a hot day after driving it like I stole it.....so new SE compensator is in but I can't tell it's benefit cause my problem went away with the cams.

Yes one of the best mods your money can be spent on and it is fairly easy to do yourself also.

Is there a good instructional post on this somewhere?

Here is my favorite method:

Gets the job done with minimal tear-down.

I just reviewed the post, I didnt have to grind my case and dont recall the oem instructions to do so. I remember it looked like it wasnt going to fit, but I started it on an angle and it went right on. One of the best upgrades I have ever done, and the easiest.
