Since I comply with state law I'm a dickwad? What makes you so special that you don't have to? You some kind of royalty? I really hate people who think they are entitled to break the law because they don't agree with it. It would be nice to obey only the laws that I agree with but unfortunately I can't, I'm so glad that you can.
So you come to a full and complete stop at stop signs? Never enter an intersection under a yellow, and most certainly do not ever go through as it turns red? Never exceed the speed limit either I suppose? Are you Mr. Perfect? Or are those just the laws that are OK to break?
Not true, a couple of weeks ago my buddy in Bakersfield paid a 180.00 ticket for a no dot helmet. I know , Bakersfield is the armpit of Ca. but its still Ca.
I can almost gaurantee he didn't take it to court. If he had he would have most likely won. I know I did and so did every person I know that fought thier tickets.
How thoughtful of you to make that decision for me you dickwad! When I am ready to "hang it up" I will, and I don't need any do-gooder a$$holes like you telling me when I need to stop riding.
+1
I usually don't respond in threads like this and just read them for the entertainment value but this is my favorite post in this thread.
The politicians have been bought by the insurance "special interest" groups, and some of you have obviously fallen for their propaganda. Stay the hell out of my life.
It's ironic the same insurance crooks that worked so hard to get the helmet law passed don't offer any medical coverage while riding your motorcycle
You have the no helmet/novelty helmet to appear legal side.
...this side is saying wear whatever you want, but if the choice hasn't been made for me, then I'm lettin the wind blow thru my hair.
And you have the dot helmet guys.
...this side would rather attack the no helmet guys, say how stupid and irresponsible they are. Almost no one from this side can just say well I wear a dot because I want to, but you wear what feels right for you.
And the whole "i don't want to pay for your life support" argument...
I don't see how we can say life support consists of people wearing novelty helmets. What about the football injuries, the painters falling off of roofs, kids drowning in pools etc. Should we only be able to play football in astro jumps? Can we only paint while wearing rock climbing gear? Should we only be able to swim if scuba gear is present?
I think laws that protect OTHERS are good (speed limits for example) but laws protecting yourself physically should be left to our best judgement.
Entirely different. Not the same comparison. Yet helmets are required in football.
All I can say is to research TBI, and then to spend a day at the James Haley Veteran's Hospital in Tampa. Once you see the results of a TBI (which is the signature injury to our vets) you would not want to not protect your self as much as it is reasonably possible to do so.
