I checked my parts catalog to understand how the transmission side of the engine is fixed to the frame and I still don't understand. If we can move the rear end of the engine sideways with a pinch bar to evaluate the wear of the two front engine mounts, then the reaction force applied by the drive belt to the pulley can do it as well! Are we relying only on the elastic mounts referenced 16207-09?

Geeze I post how happy I am with my true track and everyone wants to jump in on how its not necessary and how there bikes dont wobble. Well I got a true track and love it like many other guys on here with the new frame. I dont think ive heard anyone say they got one and didnt like it. So if you feel a wobble or unstable on your touring get one if not dont read posts that are about frame stabilizers and complain in the thread about it.

Jay,

You did all you needed to do. Some of us are just providing backup!

The parts according to the list I am looking at are #47584-09, Rubber mount, swingarm. But you are right in every other detail. Those mounts are similar to an Evo and benefit from a stabilizer to prevent sideways movement under load.

The swingarm axle passes through the rear of the trans case, then through one each side of those mounts, which isolate the axle, swingarm and trans from metal contact with the frame.

I agree, I had an 07 and definetly needed one, even though the 09 up is better, it still leaves the desire for one, only reason I haven't bought one is that I beleive I will have to remove my Easy Up, so I was thinking about trying the one from Alloy Art or Rivco.

Been following this thread. Today I went out on I-70 West just to see if I would experience the wobble. I took it up to 70mph initially then gradually increased the speed until I experienced the wobble. I hit that point between 105 and 110. It was slight but felt it. Now I don't normally travel those speeds and if I wanted that I would have stayed on my Busa. While I have never experienced the wobble other than today, I still think I might go out and get a True Track. Peace of mind and to be on the safe side. I figure the money spent will be worth it.

Sometimes it just goes that way, Post the same thing in a couple days and the responses will be totally different. They all wobble, but some never feel it cause if they ride that hard it blows their skirt up and they can't see where they are going. What matters is you found something that works for you, I was real happy with the Sta-Bo.

Hi Jay,
We should all learn from your experience, at least those who continue this thread are certainly trying to update their understanding of what caught your attention comparing with their own experience. When there is a wobble issue, there could be a wear issue; I read French articles mentioning the use of a pinch bar to evaluate the state of wear of the front engine mounts, so this tends to clarify how the engine can move sideways in certain conditions. As a preventive approach I adhere to the idea of installing a True-Track to make the bike safer in the long term and prolong the life of the front engine mounts.
My wallet and family will appreciate on the long term.
Cheers
Richard
