Question Tweeter Pod

Has anyone added just the Hog Tunes Tweeter Pod to their bike? If so , does it improve the over all sound? And if they use Y adapter wiring, running the power into the Y and out to the stock speaker (woofer) and then into the tweeter pod, does that really separate the highs or just power up the tweeter pod?

Are they better to use with replacement speakers with or without a built in tweeter, and if not , who has a replacement speaker w/o a built in tweeter?

I can't use a tweeter pod because my fairing mount GPS bracket is in the way. I have always just replaced the stock speakers on all my Glides and thought that's all I needed because the HogTunes speakers are 1000% better and clearer. This year I had money to burn(started to receive social security) so I decided to also buy the amp. Now I find myself actually turning down the volume because it really is way more sound then I need(did I realy say that?) I love my music LOUD, but now it's too much (damn, I said it again).

If you just want better sound and don't want to spend a lot of money, just replace the stock speakers. You won't be disapointed.

Yea I'm working on the speaker change idea. I have read through so many threads here on speakers my head is gonna pop.

There are as many opinions on speakers....

This one is better than that one and so on, thought I'd see what the thoughts are about the tweeter pod with stock speakers.

I'm not doing an amp...

Not sure what all the problems are, I can hear my tunes very well at highway speeds. So just wondering about getting more highs out of the tweeter pod and more up in your face as the pod puts it when mounted.

And why doesn't hog tunes at least replace the grill also?

Any aftermarket speaker will be way better then the stock. I had J&M speakers way back in the early 90's, but have had great prices and service from Pez the owner of HogTunes.
I'm glad Hog Tunes doesn't include new speaker grills. It's just that much cheaper and I don't have anything against the stock covers.

In my opinion you wouldn't need the tweeter pod if you added updated speakers because you won't get any better sounds from the stock speakers at higher volume levels. Aftermarket speakers allow you to increase sound levels and hear music much more clearly...... even at highway speeds with ear plugs.

I don't know many people (2) that have the tweeter pods, but I know tons of people that have replaced their stock speakers.

Even if you get the tweeter pod, you will eventually still want the better bass and overall clearer sound from the replacement speakers.

I have the 7" woofers in my lowers and what a difference they make. I don't think the tweeter pod would add anything to what I have now.

I have installed the Tweeter Pod with no other mods to the stock audio system on my '07 Ultra. I do believe it enhances the sound. Much clearer than before and especially noticeable at highway speeds. Still find myself wanting more volume occasionally but overall, for the money and considering the ease of installation I think they are a good 1st step. I do believe they have a built in crossover, but not certain.

I have the tweeter pod and honestly I am not impressed. I've got the speakers wired in parallel with some 6.5" JBLs, and I've have to place my ear almost directly on the tweeter to hear much.

This would be a good application if you are mounting a component set (Mid and separate tweeter) but just for the stuff that comes with it, I would pass...

I upgraded my speakers, added an amp and also have the tweeter pod. All hogtunes. I know this may get a bunch of blah blah blah, but if you're gonna upgrade your speakers, you really should get an amp. The stereo alone doesn't offer enough juice to make even the stock speakers sound good. Add an amp only, and you would be surprised the difference in how much more volume you get. As is, right now, you can get to maybe a little over half way on the volume -anything more and it doesn't change the volume. That's because there isn't enough juice to power the speakers. After an amp only, you can crank it full blast and with every notch, you can tell the volume increases.

Now throw on better speakers, AND an amp and buddy you'll have some sweet tunes. With my setup if i go more than 4 notches, its freakin LOUD. Half way is only reserved for the highway.. I have only gone full blast once to see if there was distortion or any loss in quality. Nothing.

As for type of speakers.... Ummm just pick one and you'll be happy with either. You got your Hogtunes lovers (me) and you got your J&M guys. Then there is everyone in between. I personally use hogtunes, so I can't say good or bad about the others. If i had to do it all over again, I would still do Hogtunes. They are great quality.

Ok, so not a quick fix then? Doesn't sound like it. I'm thinking back to the speaker replacement and now maybe an amp.

Yea, I think that is what the main issue is, with out better speakers and an amp, the volume (and clarity at volume) suffers. Prolly hear more highs with the tweeter pod just because it sits up high. not sure about a crossover tho, have not seen anything about that on these, and wired off of the mains I don't know if that would work. Not sure tho.

Got the tweeter pod with a stock system on a 06 streetglide . It helped with the sound . A year or 2 later I got the HD boom speakers . I would go with the HD boom speakers or other quality speakers first.
