Neutral on my 2010 103 is super hard to find when running ???
I have 2010 limited I loooooooooove the bike, it is truly the bike of my dreams, but I will be a mothers uncle if I cant find nuetral when running At lights and stops, I would like to be able to take my hand of the the bars for a moment, I spend so much time slipping through it by the time I come close it is time to roll.
Any one have this issue and how do I correct it. My buddies tell me I just have to get used to it. I have put close to 8,000 miles on it and I live outside of the country so I do not get to ride it as much as I would like and when I am home that is all I do is ride it, but when I am home I do not want to waste valuable riding time with the bike in the shop, so I deal with it. Any hellp here would be grateful. Ride safe and often.
I've got a 2011 streetglide 103 and it was hard to find neutral at 1st but after 1st service with clutch adjusted and changed to Spectro heavy duty platinum 6 speed transmission oil its never been a problem since, i'd say the clutch adjustment helped and the Spectro oil made the changes so much smoother, it just falls into neutral now
I had the same issue on my dyna. The previous owner followed the same oil in all 3 holes mantra. So once the oil change interval came up I swapped out all the fluids. I left amsoil in the engine, primary got red-line primary and the tranny got shock-proof heavy. I don't use the clutch to down shift. Now I can get it into neutral easy,I also let the gears slow me down and its just a light tap from second to neutral. Try a dedicated thicker tranny fluid and your problem with be gone
I just bought a 2011 Street Glide and it's hard to find neutral also. Dealer said it would get better after 500 miles or so. It really hasn't, I'm just getting better at tapping the lever to hit neutral. When you say adjust the clutch, what was yours doing? My clutch starts engaging the transmission as soon as the lever starts moving away from the bar. I checked to see if the clutch was dragging by getting the motor hot and seeing if the RPM changed in gear or in neutral, but it didn't. It still is aggravating having to hold the lever so tight to the bar otherwise it starts creeping forward. I'm going to adjust it, just wondering if this how your clutches acted when you got the bike? Last question is what seems to be the best transmission oil to fix teh problem and does it help with any of the shifting noise? Mine makes way more noise than my Softail did when shifting.
Mine's the same way (2011 Street Glide 103), had the 1000 mile service and synthetic oil change.... no different, 3000 plus miles now.... no different, everyone says its normal? I know its aggravating!
