Another battery question
If you have a battery maintainer, such as one of the Battery Tender brand units, I know of no reason to disconnect it unless you want to go for a ride. They are designed to remain attached and if this is done, they will fully charge the battery and maintain it at a full charge without damaging the battery.
That is the whole reason for them...maintaining the battery at a full charge which should help the battery last longer. Discharging and recharging batteries such as in a motorcycle is generally not good for the battery.
If you disconnect the maintainer periodically and then reattach it, all you are doing is allowing the battery to discharge during the time it is disconnected. That kind of defeats the whole purpose of the maintainer.

I took the battery out of my street glide and charged it on a auto charger for two hours. It started the bike so much faster for one day. I purchased a new battery the next day. I was told my battery was good even under a load but I replaced anyway. It starts so much better now. I don't know anything about batteries but I don't think mine was any good.
