Ken,

Yes, I have a six speed with cruise. I'll post all the results. FYI. I purchased a device from Dakota Digital to recalibrate my speedo.

I have looked at the Dakota digital speedo calibration offering. If I read it correctly it will only adjust the 07-08's up to 5% without loosing the 6th gear light and cruise. My 08 is already off by 3-5%, changing the belt pulley 2 teeth will make it another 6% off making 9-11% total. Thats more than the Dakota Digital will correct for unless I read wrong. It wouldn't bother me a lot to have the speedo 5% off if I kept the cruise functional.
I do think the bike needs at least 2 teeth off the front pulley to get close to correct gearing from a dead stop. Either -2 off the front, or -2 off the front and +2 on the back and it would be about perfect I think. there is enough gearing between 2-6th to have a good gear available for speeds 10-80 mph.
The TTS tuner will calibrate speedo without loosing 6th gear light or cruise function if I've read right, I'd hate to spend the money on the TTS and another dyno tune though when I've already got the SERT.
If your thrilled with the off stop performance, I'll probably really start looking at this though and deal with the speedo error either by living with it , dakota digital, or TTS though.

thats right, the standing practice is to go from 66T to 68T on the rear and from 32T to 30T on the front. Doing mine as part of my winter projects. Take note if you have an 07 with or with out IDS so you can get the correct 68T.

Looking forward to hearing your results. I have an 08 UC. Already changed the rear to 68T, have a 31T on the bench for the front when I get the time. I'm not clear on what I will have to do to keep cruise control. Haven't had time to really research it. I don't really care about speedo accuracy, as long as I know what to correct for. I'm using the Revolution Performance Precision Tuner.

+1 on what Smokindave said...Try a little heat from a torch on the nut (not the shaft). It should expand it enough to get it off.

If you get a 3/4 drive air or electric it will take it off.

Jim Dawson put me on to the Sert upgrade and the Tuner at the dealer twiked my map for the speedo along with some other settings that work for our area without needing a Dyno tune.

Hi Gerald,

I assume you are refering to upgrading the original SERT to the TTS Mastertune. Go to the TTS website and follow their directions:

http://www.mastertune.net/SERTUpgrade.html

I did it about 3 years ago.

Thanks Gerald,

You probably made this project a couple hundred or so cheaper to do..

I don't have the cables for the SERT, but I can probably take it to the shop I had it dyno'ed at and have him run the qualifier tests. He is a TTS dealer also so it should be easy for him to set me up. Might cost me a little more than $100+ shipping, but should be a lot less than buying a TTS and cables.

Do you have the 30 tooth front and the 68 tooth rear sprockets? If you do and know can you tell me what your 6th gear RPM's are at either 70 or 75 mph. Also, if you do -2 on the front and +2 on the rear sprockets do you need a new belt or what size belt do you need?

This project would take:
Rear sprocket $$$ part #
Front sprocket $$$ part #
Transmission nut removal socket (special 2 1/4" with alignment bushing) $$$ part #
Transmission sprocket locking tool $$$ part #
SERT to TTS upgrade $$$
Primary gasket and fluid $$$ part #
??New belt $$$ number of teeth part #

I've got a lot of research do do..

Ken

I just did the 68t rear sprocket so I didn't have to change belt or chain. My bike runs great but just wanted a few more rpm's in 6th. I usually run about 80 mph and rpm's are just under 3 grand, I might get out tomorrow to check at 70 and 75. My speedo was about 8 mph fast so we went half way between 68t and 70t. The tech can input the new sprocket size and it gives a sensor # and that is the number they download. My tech updated a few other numbers also base on his experience since the new TTS tuner alows for more variables to be set than the original SERT. It may be worth a new Dyno tune but in my case I felt it runs better than before so why spend the money.
