After I upgraded to 103' stage II compensator and starter took dump and then after SE compensator and heavy duty starter it was good for couple years. But with CR now it starts very easy, I should have it done back when I upgraded the motor would been lot cheaper.I highly recommend it with SE 255 but any other cams I have no experience.
I installed 103 kit with 255cams on 09 ultra started fine cold but whenthe motor got hot it had to much compression.took heads off installed manual releases.I starts fine when hot as long as i remember to push releases.I use cobra power pro auto tune and at first i thought that it was my problem after talk to cobra support that the tuner does not affect engine until 200 plus revs. But if you push the start button right after run button and do no wait for engine light to go out the timing is not set and will start when hot.I tried this and it does work some times.with the auto releases after buying releases machining heads installing you still haveto pay for 1 hour of fashing ecm . im guessing it has something todo with timing delay at start up.I like the end result it got some *** now alot more fun to ride .
i had stage 2 installed on new 2008 ultra since new knocked out starter clutch drive at 7000 mi dealer also told me i didnt need compresion release bike built 103 w 255 cam going to have dealer install auto releases so as not to mess with manuel release
I did ARC when I went 103. Told I didn't need them with 54h @ 10-1 and it was hard to find a local guy with the tooling plus they were a pain to get working right but I'm glad I did it. Starts nice no matter the heat! I think it's one of those pay me now, pay me latter things and starters ain't cheap.
ACR's are a good deal no matter what. The HD starters are weak to begin with. Why do you think the newer 103's come from the factory with them already installed?
