My question is I have an 11 SG in apple green. Ive seen the standard colors and such available from hd and that other company that makes paint for oem companies. But I haven't seen my color or other limited colors. I have a little project I need some paint to match. Any ideas wheres the best place to get some?
Harley paint by the quart is not what most painters like to spray. better off finding a guy that is good at color matching. I bought the 135.00 quart of Sedona orange and two painters couldn't make it match. just my .02
the apple green is not available from HD so you would be best off finding a local painter with a ppg colormatch system.
as far as the painters who could not get the sedona orange to match with the HD paint, did they follow the instructions regarding letting the catalyzed basecoat dry for 24hrs before applying clear to ensure proper final color. I sprayed mine and the match is spot on
I am not a painter. I won't even try to lie. but I don't know what they did. all I know is when they gave me there test pieces back they looked more gold then orange.
I ended up going to a hot rod builder in Bozeman, MT and he matched it first try. he modified fords burnt orange color. my bike is going back to him to do my stretched bags and fender next month.

They did something to screw the paint up. My riding buddy has a 2011 Sedona Orange RG, you saw the pic, when he did the stretched bags, rear fender, and new front fender the "HD" paint did NOT match at all, it looked more peach than orange. HD did nothing to "fix" the screw up and he had to foot the bill to repaint from a local guy to get the right paint.
It's beyond me how HD can sell you paint from them, to match what came on their bike, and it doesn't match......

Good to hear I felt like the only one. lol. I got a sweet can of **** paint in my garage right now it says Sedona orange on the outside.
SE120RG congrats u might have got one of the MOCO quarts of paint that actually matched. And I looked back on what I gave my painter. It was your instructions from a previous post when you painted your inner fairing. haha
I bought a used bike , like new , but not the color I care for I was wondering if Harley sells the painted parts , fenders , gas tank etc. as a tradein on my parts ? I have a 2010 Ultra Limited , I saw a midnight blue and black Ultra had me drooling that to me was one beautiful color combination . Does anyone know if a trade in is done through Harley ? Thanks for any info .
