Many of the custom colors were formulated for the factory by outside suppliers. H-D does not offer these colors. We are currently booked solid on paint repair work, you can try a local Automotive paint store. Even the best paint matchers often after spending 2-4 hours trying, give up, telling you; this is as good as it gets! The reason is that the paint is done in 3 stages; a metallic base color with a mixture of pearl + a transparent candy color + a clear coat which causes the metallic base color to bleed through the candy color, creating a totally new color (the one on your bike). 3 stage paint with pearl is a challenge for any professional painter to match. Often the color is finally matched, but it might not match in the shade, due to nature of pearl colors! If you are not able to get the color matched, give us a call in 4-5 weeks. We gladly mix the exact color for you. Tom Green.

I bought a used bike , like new , but not the color I care for I was wondering if Harley sells the painted parts , fenders , gas tank etc. as a tradein on my parts ? I have a 2010 Ultra Limited , I saw a midnight blue and black Ultra had me drooling that to me was one beautiful color combination . Does anyone know if a trade in is done through Harley ? Thanks for any info .
There is no trade in program but you can purchase a new paint set in any stock color that was available for your bike. The only exception is cvo bikes. Their painted parts are vin # protected. You can always sell your take off tins to reduce the cost
Ok thanks for the reply , a guy had told me that he thought Harley was offering to take your tins in on part trade in if you bring your bike in to harley and let them take your tins off and they put the new ones on , for about 3 grand , I couldprobably trade my bike in and pay 3 grand and get the new bike for that . I will call them tomorrow and price the tins in that color , thanks .
I needed to paint the tri bar light bag filler for my rg. Went to hd to inquire about the paint and cost. The told me the base coat and clear coat could only be bought in pint form for a total of almost $350. No freakin way i was going to pay that for the paint. Brought the piece i needed to paint and a side cover to a painter friend of mine. After about 3 or 4 test spray outs he was able to match it almost spot on. Acceptable to me. Any good painter should be able to match it up nicely. Thats basically the short of it. Goood luck
Send a PM to jharanin, a member here who works for PPG. If there is a PPG paint code for your color, he can supply it. Then, take the paint code to a PPG auto paint distributor or body shop with the facilities to mix PPG paint and you're good to go with paint.
If jharanin can't supply the PPG code for your color, do as suggested--find a local painter who can mix and match the color.

I have a 2001 Fat Boy that, until I got rear-ended on 9/11 last year, had a Harley limited edition tank and fender set. I contacted Harley back in 2005/2006 about getting the set repainted and was told by Harley that you folks had painted it but that you were no longer in business. Was that incorrect or did you folks close up shop for a while?
My question is I have an 11 SG in apple green. Ive seen the standard colors and such available from hd and that other company that makes paint for oem companies. But I haven't seen my color or other limited colors. I have a little project I need some paint to match. Any ideas wheres the best place to get some?
Call Harley Davidson. They can give you the manufacturer and the paint code for your bike, even if it's a limited edition tank and fender set and even if it has graphics. I got the codes from HD for all of the colors on my bike and it had some pretty extensive graphics.
