Is it possible (and feasible) to remove the inner fairing with the radio and gauges attached?
I have my Harley Street Glide apart and would like to get the inner fairing painted.
Radio stays on the bike just secure it,and unplug everything else and you can remove all the gauges after you remove the inner fairing some where on the carpet or bed. It helps to have helping hands and a lift to keep bike upright straight.May be take a picture before removing so you can trouble shoot it.All the plugins are pretty idiot proof but you never know.DON'T forget to take out main fuse.
There is nothing securing the radio to the inner fairing; the radio is secured with two bolts through each of the two black vertical fairing brackets.
Are you going to lift the inner away from the bike with the radio not secured to the inner fairing and risk it falling out and hitting the tank, garage floor, etc.?
Follow the directions in the Service Manual and the link supplied earlier in this thread. I've twice removed the inner fairing w/o incident following the SM.
