I am looking at the power duals for my 2010 Street Glide, I have seen some riders post that they end up scraping the power duals.

I am not sure how they are doing this but looking at them they do not seem to be lower than the HD stock dual (cross under)set up,

can any body shed some light on this?

+1.
2 years ago, I went true duals and picked the Dresser Duals, as the Power Duals were basically the same design as the stock headers aka 2-1-2. My objective was 1) heat reduction and 2) sound, and I'm extremely pleased with the result.
Heat has dropped significantly around my passenger's right leg & foot and my CFR slip-ons sound even better. The sound is a tad louder and it is now completely stereophonic (50R/50L). It was like 70R/30L with the stock headers.
I might have lost a little bit of low end torque with the Dresser Duals but it's not much. Anyhow, a set of 255 or 254e will more than make up for the loss.

Same here except for a Limited, based on what I have read so far I don't think I would put these on a SG riding the hills of Tennessee. If I can ride the dragon without scraping on a Limited I may pull the trigger on these. I have seen alot of comments saying "you will scrape these" but they have all been SG's or lowered bikes.

Default Twin Slash Rounds vs. Monster Rounds

Fairly partial to the V&H Twin Slash Rounds as I had them on my RK but looking to outfit the Ultra. Plan to match up with the Power Dual header. Want the power but also the sound. Saw a set of the Monster Ovals on a SG but they looked a little too big (in my opinion). Monster Rounds look good on the web site but have not seen on a bike nor heard them. Any opinion on either the Twin Slash Rounds vs. Monster Rounds would be appreciated.

When I was researching my options, I talked to the V&H representative about true and power duals. He had comments about the loss of low end torque with TD and the TD were really for looks, not performance. I wanted the best torque where I will operate the bike, at lower RPMs. I plan no "internal" engine mods and am happy with the way the power duals work and yes the significant reduction of heat.

I have the V&H Power Duals with V&H Twin Slash Oval Monsters and really like the performance and sound. I did scrape them once but it was in a left hand curve with a right hand “Y” that I took leaning far over and got a little hi center action. My scooter is stock height and I was ridding two up. I have taken that turn/curve many times since with no more issues. The scrapes are on the underside of the cross chamber and you can’t see them at all. I had to feel for them to find them. The worst thing was my buddy was following me and it didn’t even make any sparks.

I can't compare the monsters to the Twin Slash rounds but I can to the V&H Basics I had for a couple of years on my RK. The Monster Rounds are certainly deeper sounding. The basics were pretty tame until you got on them and then they had a nice bark. The MR are deceptively loud and when you roll on aggressively, just get deeper.

I was coming from a bike with Samson Fishtails that was LOUD and anything but deep and the MR were disappointing at first. They have grown on me though and fit and finish wise are very nice. They look great with extended bags and while I still think they could have more bark, they don't drown out the sound system. An added bonus is they seem to set off every car alarm I drive by.

I've seen several posts about a slight loss of power (low end) with the true duals, some riders consider it unnoticeable.
What are the benefits of the X-pipe system? Any regrets or disappointment after installing either one?
Hi Tom_hd02,
I have the X pipe on two of our bikes. I noticed you have an '09 P bike too, cool. On one bike I have them paired with the Monster Ovals while the other one has the Hi-Outputs. The X pipe with the MO's pulls really nice BTW. However, the biggest bitch I have with the X pipe is that they're not angled inwards like the OE and the X pipe scrapes during right hand turns way too soon for my liking. Actually has altered my riding style as a result. The trade-off kinda sucks if leaning your bike is your thing. If you take a little more leisurely approach to turning you'll like them. Just keep the scraping thing in mind, they WILL touch down early on you.

You might consider FuelMoto's header since it retains the OE shields which means the angle is also retained and won't effect your leaning. They weren't available when I bought my exhaust system. Even though my mapping from FuelMoto totally sucked for my P bike (still does) and could be quite a bit better on my Roadie, making a pipe is a lot easier than a proper map so I'd likely go with their header JUST so I could retain my lean angle.

Food for thought. Good luck.

Not to hi-jack this thread but could you elaborate on the poor map from Fuel Moto...This is the first negative comment I have heard about Jamie's maps.

Thx

I have the Pro Pipe on an 09 SG. I'm new(ish) to riding (got bike in June; rode years ago) and am very intersted in clearance. Haven't touched-down yet but know it's coming. Performance of the Pro Pipe is great but it's too loud (interferes with Stevie Ray V.) so I'm switching. Been planning to go w/ PD and Monster Rounds. Last week a V&H tech told me there is less clearance on a Pro Pipe than PD w/ Monster Rounds. M. Ovals are even worse.
