Default Headlight bulb?

Is it HD specific or can it be bought anywhere? My low beam bulb is dead.

autozone etc.

think about a silverstar or other premium bulb--- but be aware that the "best" bulb in the line has a shorter service life, there is a little chart on the package

some States it's legal to use high beam in the day--- evens out the wear between low and high

You may want to consider going from the sealed one piece unit to a 2 piece (bulb and lens) unit. You will find your lighting will be much improved. I recommend susquehanna motorsports - find them at www.rallylights.com. I went with the Hella brand HL79562 7" lens paired with the Osram 70H/65L H4 bulb. Huge difference.

I would look at upgrading if you're already gonna replace. Search the forums for posts on bulbs - I took user "iClick" 's advice and went with the setup below:

MUCH brighter than stock, and a lot cheaper than LED...

Try a PIAA bulb. It's tons better and brighter than the stock bulb. Chances are your local moco or indy carries them.

4th one down (Osram H4 80/100) - you'll be amazed at how bright this bulb is...
