Default 2007 FLHRC: First things first...

I bought a 2007 Road King Classic a couple months back. Was in a big hurry to get a bike and did not investigate this one as completely as I should have. After getting it and spending a lot of time with it since, I can tell that it just wasn't cared for the way it should have been.

The bike has a little over 50k miles on it. Any suggestions from you HD veterans as to specific things I should have checked out or problems I should be ready for?

Not new to motorcycles, just new to HD. Your feedback is appreciated!

Tim

First thing, get yourself a Service Manual (not the Owners Manual). $20 - $25 on ebay.
Second, and this is not alot of money, take an afternoon and change all of the fluids and check for metal shavings on the drain plugs and in the oil and trans fluid - do all of the normal maint. stuff. Change spark plugs, clutch & brake cable lube/adjustment, clean your air filter, etc.
50k miles is not unusual for a 5 year old bike.
Have fun with it.

Tim I dont think you could have bought a better bike
if your life depended on it. Get a 50 thousand mile
service done on it and you should be good to go.
If you dont have one you need one of these,

Also depending on your hight you can look at the heritag
handel bars very comfortable, no cable change out

+1 for the service manual. It will walk you through the maintenance step by step. I would check all of the critical fasteners, the condition of the belt, and the brake pads first. Take time cleaning it to put your hands on everything to see if something is loose. Good luck, and have fun.
