just incase some may have the dip stick temp guage... I have both... I had the dip stick guage 1st... the return oil enters the oil tank near the rear of the tank... this reading will be about 20+ degrees higher than the temp sending unit mounted in the front of the oil tank for the fairing mounted gauge.......
I sure hope their oil temp gauge is more accurate than their air temp gauge....
Even if it is accurate, how the hell do you read it?
I hate gauges with non-linear scales. And besides the non-linear scale, just to add a little more confusion, what do the 4 dots on the lower portion of the scale represent?
Unless of course they furnish a legend with the gauge that tells you what each division, and dot, represents. Do they? I don't think so.
The heat management system (EITMS) uses the front cylinder head temp, not the oil temp and a 30F to 50F difference between the 2 is normal.
What kind of oil do you use in your engine? Do you have an oil cooler?
By the way, the EITMS kicks-in at 285F.
I have FLHX with the powerpack, so yes it has an oil cooler and I use Mobil 1, 20w-50 V-twin.
