OK Guys. I rode my bike to work today because I'm not sure how many more good riding days we are gonna get this riding season. When I was about 5 minutes from work I stopped at a Red Light and put the bike in Neutral. Immediately I heard a Clicking and whirring of the starter motor engaging !!!! It continued to do this anytime I pulled in the clutch. When I Got to work I Hit the Kill switch when I pulled in the clutch as I entered the parking lot and coasted into a parking slot. Put the bike in neutral and turned the switch back on... Sure enough, the Bike started right up without ever touching the starter button .... Has anyone ever seen this happen ??
This is on a 2009 FLHRC with about 15,000 miles on the clock.
I know this is an old thread but looking for some input. I have a 2010 road king and just hit 15,000 miles. My bike is doing the exact same thing and was wondering what the final outcome of your problem was. This has me dumbfounded. It just started doing this a few days ago outa nowhere. Thanks for reading.
The guys replying were right on the money. I replaced my Starter Switch and have not had an issue since.
Good Luck. I hope your issue is just as simple.

Thanks for the reply. I thought they would be right but checking with you in case I missed something. My bike is doing the exact same thing as yours did. I could have actually used your thread to explain what mine is doing all the way down to the 15,000 miles. I believe mines the starter switch also. Don't know whey there's no recall on the thing seeing allot of guys saying there's went bad or know of someones going bad. Especially at 15,000 miles. Guess someone needs to get killed first. Again thanks allot.
Same thing on my 2010 Ultra. I removed the starter switch housing from the handle bar and cleaned it using WD40. It had some white stuff/corrosion on the contacts. Put it back together and the problem went away.
I think it was caused by water or road grime.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Joe. I'll give that a try before buying the part. I'll hit it with some contact cleaner or wd-40. Thanks for the input.
Last week my 2013 48 auto started? Turned Key on, and had clutch in and was waiting for fuel pump to pressure up, and then it started on its own without pressing the start button. Heard the starter try to kick in when having clutch in at lights, and then motor just spinning. Dealer found water in switch, so cleaned everything up, and it seemed to be fine for about a week, and then today had the starter kicking in again with clutch in. Happened about 4 times during trip to dealer. Dealer did a quick look at connections, and pulled relays, but didn't see anything, and it has been dry? On drive home had no issue, but scheduled to bring it in Tuesday morning, since service is closed on Sunday and Mondays. Bike has under 8,000 miles?
I also had the same problem with my 2011 wide glide. I turned the key to the on and the switch was in the off postion and the started engauged.Being the bike was in gear it almost went down. The problem ended up being moisture in the starter relay.
I have a 91 Softail Springer (EVO)
While bike is running if I pull front brake lever the starter kicks in.....
Any thoughts?
I have replaced all of the wires in the bars to the plug to eliminate any possibilities of shorts. Also replaced the starter relay. I have a new front stop light switch on order (mine test fine.... might as well replace since its all torn apart).
