Well, as long as it goes into and stays in 6th without acting up, I wouldn't worry about if the light goes off here and there.
Mine is really "sensitive" -- On both bikes I've had with 6-speeds. Sometimes under heavy acceleration (or deceleration for that matter), I've had it blink a time or two going over bumps... Seems to be fine under "normal load" (for lack of a better term).
Mine did that as well when I updated the firmware of my Power Commander. Doesn't allow you to use cruise control. I haven't updated the firmware to the October 2011 release yet to see if it fixes mine. One can only hope it will.
Had this same deal happen on a rental last month. Thought it kind of strange. Acted like it was downshifting to 5th when the light went out during accleration, especially uphill.
I have the PC-V installed on my 2010 Limited and I have noticed that after riding for a while that occasionally the 6th gear indicator will not light up. If I stop and start up again after a traffic light it will usually come on again. Will have to try the firmware upgrade to the PC-V.
