Had an 09 Ultra stage II.103 255's heads had basic port job canned map from harley never dynoed, ran good didn't notice the drop above 4000 rpm got on this forum just before I traded read all this stuff on the 255's, took it out and ran it hard, just didn't see what all thes guys were saying about them dying maybe on paper but I didnt notice.2011 Ultra Limited build is in My sig. I agree with Iclick for a 96" I feel you'd be better with the 255's than 254's.I know nothing bout the 204's but guys like them also.
Well, my 255s and SE103 big bore were enough to frag my stock clutch at 25,000 miles, says something for their power. Hope the SE clutch and VPC hold up better. Snickety snick shifting at the moment.
It was 50* & sunny here in Michigan, so of course we were riding. I paid attention to my riding style to help decide on some cams. Regular spirited shifting was around 3500. Full throttle blasts were just over 5000. These stock cams just don't pull, and run out of steam quickly. I'm having a real hard time running my buddies '01 Electraglide 88". Not sure if his has cams or not, but it pulls a little better then mine in the upper rpm's. I want to change that over the winter!
Can't lose with the 255's but in a heated match I don't think they would be ideal for me. So I'm thinking the 254e or Andrews 48h. Still not 100% sure!!!
Another thing that makes it so difficult to choose between the 255s and 254s it that they are such similar cams. It's not like comparing a 255 to a TW555 where there is almost 20 hp difference, we are talking 5-8ish hp difference.
