Rear brake problem makes no sense..

No abs. And I will recheck the pin and pads to see that all is where they should be.

Rode about 200 miles today and all worked well except for the new length of travel when depressed the rear brake. Thanks for all the tips. It's Sunday night. Tomorrow is rat race day and back to work. I probably won't fool with this till next Saturday although I am tempted to do a quick bleed before then. Why I'd have to bleed when I never opened the system is what's disturbing me. Also new pads and low pedel....makes no sense. I'll get back to you with the fix. Thanks everyone.

hmm, I responded yesterday and the post didn't post.

when removing old pads, the dirt and dust needs to be cleaned away from the pistons.

before the pistons are pushed into the bore

then crack the bleeder and push the pistons in slowly and evenly.

this pushes out the contaminated fluid

then close bleeders

put on pads with anti squeak and lubed pins etc.

reinstall calipers

pump up the brake system

top off reservoir.

bleeding shouldn't be required

BUT recent models have had problems with the brake light switch leaking/introducing air.

so look at that.

Are the brakes solid when you do get through the extended travel or are they mushy through that extra travel?
