Default Dawg-???

Dawg , I didn't want to steal the clutch thread, but here is my question. I have a 2010 road glide 96ci. 24,000 miles(all touring). Is there a fool proof method that I can tell if the compensator is failing. I experienced some clunking noise a few times while I was in Death Valley. Also the bike on occasionally feels like the clutch is slipping. These things are not something that happens 100% of the time. I am taking the bike in for what will probably be the last time I get something done under warranty. If you think your bike is breaking down in Death Valley at about 9pm, it gets your attention. I read the inspection of the compensator procedure, and just don't want to do it.

No real fool proof method without taking it down for inspection. I would also have the inner primary bearing checked while in there. Seems a bunch of the later models (09, etc.) have been afflicted with IPB issues. MOCO apparently had a bad run on the bearings, much like the wheel bearings.

Yep, good advice offered by the dawg once again! My 09 already had the IPB replaced under warranty. I'd have 'er check while apart.

I had my compensator replaced and they needed to change the inner primary bearing too. What a difference in finding neutral and shifting smoothness. It's best to run the HD Formula + in the primary when going to the SE compensator.

Update, not that anyone cares. Took my bike in for some warranty work and told them to inspect the compensator and IPB. Service dept. supervisor asked how many miles on the bike(24,000) said he would change compensator out and I would only pay for the upgrade to the SE compensator. Also, he would address the bearing. We will see what happens in about a week. Also going to address the rear brake light switch.
