ok....im trading in my 2011 103 streetglide....as i haven't had much luck with it.....has 6,xxx miles on it and has developed a horrible ticking noise lately....only mods on the bike is v&h true duals.....3.5 rineharts...SERT...roland sands breather....
after it develolped the ticking noise....the dealership pulled the top end down and found a scored lifter...they replaced it...and i payed for a set of se-255 cams....put the bike back together......still ticked to high hell
heres the other problem......i complained that i had puffs of black smoke coming from my pipes....service guy told me it was cause my rear cylinder was turning off and on in heat and thats why.......i went in and looked at my map...and that was turned off.....so it was running on both cylinders and blowing smoke........yesterday i turned on my bike to let a fellow bike listen to my pipes.....and black smoke blew out everywhere........just curious what is causing this or if anyone else has had this issue.....im trading the bike in so have no desire to fix it......but curious.....thanks all
yea they are treating me pretty good....just was curious about the black smoke.....was hoping someone else had a new bike that they had similiar issues with and could tell me what to look for....

your service guy is full of ****..... when the eitms kicks in, it shuts of fuel going to the rear cylinder as well. plus it only works at idle, when cyl head temp is great than 285, and speedo reads less than 3 mph. as soon as one of those variables is not met, then your rear cylinder will fire again.
i would think about having a different dealer look at it before trading it in, unless, you really have lost all confidence and just want another bike.
yea....im set on a new bike.....but am losing confidence with the service department...the manager of the place is a pretty kool guy so far...hes the only reason i go back there......but if he doesn't get a hold on this service department of his......hes gonna continue to push customers away....
Black smoke is from too much fuel, too rich. I'd be looking at the fuel injectors. They maybe hanging open too long because of some mechanical defect, or any of the electronics related to providing the signal to the injectors.
black smoke typically indicates a rich fuel condition. It may also be a leak in the intake somewhere. I'd take a look at the breather bolts to see if they are secured and properly torqued.
Ever consider the 120r versus trading in for a diff bike? I saw a dyno sheet for the 120r with tman cams that would make your face melt.
