I just bought mine from a forum member, it definitely was a funky install.

I am looping the buckle around the outside of the rail and securing the strap back into the loop.

....... i gotta say that, if I could tell I was going into a slide ....... the last thing i'd be concerned w/is what was happenin' w/the buckles on the bags.
..... hard bags ...... giving you just one less thing to worry about in a crash....

You have a catchier title though. If I had bags like you're, I'd be tucking the straps in. I'm OCD like that.
I was just thinking the same thing.... was **** about tucking the strap in the little loop every time I closed em...well I would be back n forth, in and out of the bags tryna get organized or just to find the glasses I wanted to wear and I would drive myself nuts. I switched over to hard bags for other reasons and thought ahhh this is nice. Before long (after reading lid popping posts) I now drive myself batty with locking the bags every time I shut them, only to unlock and re-open a few more times making sure I got everything.

What I eventually found was that the strap leather must have, over time, stretched just enough so that the left front buckle was just slightly and occasionally rattling on the chrome bag guards. When it happens, its loud sometimes. I'm going to experiment with some little self addhesive furniture pads or something this winter.
Hmmm... and I have been suspecting an exhaust leak. Thanks! I'm going out to the garage and take a look. I got a "tink... tink-tink...... tink" sound coming from the left rear.
