I think you need Stage 1 before Stage 2 (upgrade cams). I'm don't know a lot about this stuff, but I think after changing cams you need to be able to re-tune the motor.

Hydraulic tensionner or gear cam first to avoid problems. If you still have money, Supertrapp pipes just for sound.

Best advice yet.

If it were me, I'd get a big detachable windshield for a couple hundred bucks, do the hydraulic upgrade and an Andrews 26 cam, a set of used slip-ons, a used air cleaner, and a Power Commander. Do the work yourself and you'll be under budget, have a nice-performing bike, and have all the protection from the wind you need.

What good is performance if it's not comfortable to ride?? What is uncomfortable on the bike? Go in steps and correct least uncomfortable and then maybe you'll have some $ for performance. A set of pipes won't by themselves require fuel management so maybe a bit of both??

If you are already comfy, go with the Fuel Moto deal. You wont be disappointed. IF on the other hand riding around, especially now with old man winter on its way, you cant live with out tunes and the fairing then go that way, but hearing and feeling the bike can be just as good as tunes!!!!

All depends on your riding style / preferences....
If you plan on 'touring' then comfort will probably be the route....
If you plan on doing mostly bar-hopping, then a performance upgrade
will fit the bill.

Comfort or Performance

On the comfort side I'm looking at an aftermarket detachable fairing w/ stereo, speakers and 5" smoke windshield. Cost is around $1300-$1500. Absolute top of my budget. I had a fairing on my metric and loved riding around with music. Not a big fan of putting plugs into my ears for iTunes as I'd rather have some peripheral hearing. I do enjoy the look of the fairings and the music though.

On the Performance side I'm looking at the Fuel Moto package. It will include a Stage I air cleaner, DynoJet PCIII USB and a set of Supertrapp SE slip on mufflers. Cost is around $800-900.

Or

I was also thinking about a new Cam (Andrews 21) with adjustable push rods and putting in hydraulic tensioners while I'm in there. I think the cost for this will be around the same as the fairing. Overall though I'm thinking that the Fuel Moto package will be the better place to start. Is that a correct decision?

So, now I have to figure out which way to go. I don't have to do any of it as the bike runs fine for me. But what I want and what I need has always had blurry lines.

Thanks for the advice.
You don't mention how many miles are on it, or if you have replace the tensioners yet. But that is something you will Need to do sooner or later.

Everything else is just what you want...only you know what you want most.
