BMW has used an ABS on/off switch since 1988. I switch my ABS off when I ride my 2000 R1100RT on gravel roads. The only litigation I hear about regarding BMWs is related to rear drive failures.

I strongly dislike my abs on 2012 FLHTK also. After the dealer did rear brake switch relocation recall the rear brake has not worked the same since. Returning the bike to the dealer 3 times now and I can still lock up rear brake after feeling a tremendous pounding type surging. If I turn off bike coasting the brake works like it did on previous non abs FLH's I have owned.

You do know that with ABS brakes the wheels are not supposed to lock up and skid like conventional brakes.

DITTO - I brought this up 2 years ago ... can be dangerous

Another dangerous situation is if your coming to a stop where cars and BiG Trucks have the right of way and you Have To Stop or die, if your a rookie and use your rear brake only - and hit some bumps or rubble the rear brake will apply & release and send you forward more so than just normal braking ...

I alway use BOTH brakes when coming to a MUST STOP - do or die !
