Try a quick start on dry asphalt and as soon as you get moving you immediately apply the brakes for an emergency braking situation. You're almost certain to hit the vehicle in front of you if you've not yet travelled one yard. Time seems to stop when you're applying the brakes and you don't know what's making the ABS hang at such a slow speed.
Not yet traveled ONE YARD (3 feet) ??
If you hit the brakes after moving less than 3 feet you will stop. I have tried this several times on my ABS bike, no problems.
Ive heard of software updates for the abs,for early engagement check with your dealer
When I got my 2009 I noticed right off that the ABS was super sensitive. During normal braking, if there was anykind of bump on the roadway, the ABS would kick in. It was actually kind of a nuisance. Even riding over tar snakes in the highway would engage it.
After several months of putting up with it I bitched to the service manager about it one day and he said he just noticed that there was a download from the MOCO which addressed this exact problem. He plugged my bike in and a couple of minutes later it was done. I rode off the property and immediately hit a bumpy street to check out the new download. Miracle of miracles, the super sensitive ABS brakes went away.
