Forget the download. With the TTS you can it up so you can watch where, and when you have collected enough data.

Maybe I am going at this the wrong way. I have a descent automotive background but very limited on working on motorcycles, but not afraid too. I got my book and I am doing my own check ups and fix most things on my bike. So, how hard is it to adjust the tune on these devices. Do you need an engineering background or can you learn on your own. I like being able to tinker around but I know my limits. I wont spend big money on a tuner if I am not able to operate it. I admit I like the idea of seeing the engine temp and other gauges. I like knowing what is going on with my bike, hate idiot lights .

Getting involved with that whole Power Commander/Power Vision muddle works fine for some people, you might end up being one of them, congrats if you do, or you could very easily spend hundreds of dollars and end up on your own with a piece of worthless crap.

I will try to tell a truth without flaming anyone. Do not forget what this forum is all about. For us it is where we go to share and get help. For the owners and the sponsors it is a business and the goal is to make money. Do not confuse what people do when telling the truth and what they do to advertise so they can get their hands on your money. Not everything you read here is truth. This forum is biased just like a casino is biased to favor the house, it is a controlled environment geared to steer your money in the direction they want it to go. I am not saying that is a bad thing, I am saying this is a business and it is run like a business which is fine and to be expected, if it were your business you would do the same. However do not make the mistake of thinking this forum is your friend and not a business.

Check multiple outside sources for information, talk to people who have experience with the product you need. There are independent shops and installers and users all over the country who have nothing to do with the companies that sell this stuff. There are many honest people giving honest opinions on this forum, their opinion may differ from yours but you can count on them to tell you the truth the way they see it. The difficulty is discerning who is who.
Well, it's too late for the Sponsor Bashing so the Cat's out of the bag on this one. Saying that "it sucks" would be the part that I disagree with. The rest of it means little after a statement like that. Not everyone is gonna agree with everything. Jamie knows that. He has a strong following here, not because of our Sponsor Rule but because he has a good product. Is it for everyone? No. Does everyone need it? Everyone needs something other than stock if they want their bike to run better than a lean mean EPA Machine but maybe you don't want to spend the money or maybe you aren't educated on the fine tuning aspects of your bike. Everyone has an opinion and I can understand how we don't all agree on everything but let's just leave the "sucks" statements about sponsors out of the forum.

I like the PV. First is the ability to monitor and capture data with the unit on the handlebars. Getting ET, fuel milege and ignition retarding is good to know. It took me more time then then necessary to get a good tune because of poor documentation. The guys here on the forum are invaluable. Once I learned the tricks, it became pretty easy. I was not dissatisfied with the stage II download from HD. I used that as the base map and overlaid the timing map from DJ.

I used the data log to adjust the VE tables and that is still an area of frustration to me. What has become clear to me is that my engine VE is very sensitive to the dew point and ambient temperatues. The VE varies in relation to those changes. I now have four tunes loaded on the PV all with common VE tables. I then have two spark tables and three AFR tables giving me a perf tune, a hot weather tune, an economy tune and a bad gas tune if I get stuck and have to burn 85 octane fuel.

I would buy another because I like to tinker. I wish for better data analysis programs and regret that I did not have better better documentation and coaching and counseling in the first three months of use.

This is interesting, and maybe that's why I haven't had any problems with AT other than one or two minor blips that were easily fixed. The Jackpots (what I'm running) have a 3/4" reversion cone built into the left baffle, which appears to be the same principle as the Zippers fix.

From what others say it is one of the better tuners out there and is at Zanotti's

Based on what little I know about TTS and my own personal experience with the PCV and PV, I can say that almost anyone can learn to tune with any one of them. The PCV is the simplest, as it basically deals with fuel and spark tables, and in the case of the AT you have AFR's and trim tables added to the mix. The PV can tune with wideband O2 sensors (optional AT-100 kit), which allow tuning throughout the operating range, not just the limited closed-loop area dictated by the stock hardware.

TTS and PV both deal directly with the ECM tables, and although that can get quite complex, after reading the manuals you should have a good grip on the concepts. What gaps exist after that can be cleared-up in the ECM/Tuner section of this forum, and both tuners have sticky threads there.

I admit I like the idea of seeing the engine temp and other gauges. I like knowing what is going on with my bike, hate idiot lights.
Some don't want to know what's going on, as they say it'll just worry them. I'm the opposite in that I'll worry if I don't know what's going on. So, let me see as much info as possible.

After using a Cobra Fi2000r and the T-Max I have ended up on the PV team. I have been more than happy with it after I got the tune done. I worked with Dan Hourigan at DynoJet and after several runs we got the bike dialed in and running very well. My mileage has never been as good and the bike runs cooler and works seamlessly with my EIMTS. I leave the display mounted all the time as I use it as my gas gauge and keep tabs on temp and MPG's. Although I have no experience with the TTS system I would still recommend the PV without hesitation. With my upcoming big bore project I will be able to do another tune and optimize my tune again. Way cool!!
