The pic's are very sobering and a great reminder of the vulnerability we all face when we throw a leg over. Glad to hear you are getting better, and that you won't be one who abandons riding altogether. Keep us posted... And if the adjuster doesn't treat your bike -- or you -- with the attention you believe you deserve, make sure to secure good, reputable counsel. It makes all the difference in the world, both from a financial perspective and for your peace of mind.

That's the way I ride...unfortunate, but we no longer have a choice when surrounded by cages!

Glad to hear you're coming back together.

I wouldn't ride her again either.. superstition.

If the adjuster starts talking about fixing her, find a frame specialist.

Have him make a report about the bottom at the floorboards,
the steering neck, and the swingarm where your saddlebag used to be.

Bent frame = write off.

Save someone else from an unsafe bike.

Shame, beautiful bike.

Just saw this, sorry to hear about the wreck. I'm sure the knee and hand injuries are brutal, and I'm cringing at the thoughts of stitches on my face! It's inspiring that you're planning on replacing it immediately instead of changing your outlook on riding.

Godspeed Train. Glad your fairing well and being proactive in your recovery. Hope all the legal ramifications work in your favor as well.

Train - glad to read you are healing, both physically and mentally! I read somewhere here on another thread you had mentioned your accident, but I did not see this thread, so my apologies to being late to the get well party. It is sad and sure does suck to see the visual of your bike. Glad you are still with us to tell the tale. And as someone mentioned earlier, while there is no such thing as good timing for an accident really, your crasher who hit ya picked a good time of year! ;-)

God speed with your recovery, glad to read that you look forward to riding again - I know some would walk away and never throw a leg over ever again.

Thanks again guys. Got the cast off my right hand after a month (Jebus that thing stunk). Both hands are functioning reasonably well, fine motor skills are good, it's just a matter of building the strength back up and regaining my flexibility. Both wrists were damaged by compression, which makes for some difficult recovery.

The knee's healing pretty well, I'm able to bend it to 90 degrees now, and I can walk around and climb stairs like a normal human being again. Walking down stairs is still a little challenging, but it's getting better. Even after a month, it's amazing how swollen everything still is.

Overall, I give the whole "crashing" thing a big thumbs down. It hurts like hell, and it's a massive inconvenience. The positive news is that I should be able to ride again in about 3 weeks. The Night Train's got fresh oil & tires, and is patiently waiting on the battery tender for me.
