Returning home from a ride back in 07 I rolled into the garage and as I came to a stop, my jeans caught the rear shifter & I could not put my foot down, and down we went! Next day bought the part ( about $12.00 ) and that rear shifter has been living in a box on my work bench ever since. I left the rear shifter on my Tri Glide.

I had a SuperGlide that it's stock foot pegs would catch and one time rip my pant leg at a traffic light. Remedy was replace the stock peg with a smooth custom type.

On my CVO both the front and rear shifter pegs are smooth chrome, so there's almost no chance of catching my pant leg. Oh, and I also lowered the rear shifter as low as possible after installing floor board extenders. Makes it so much more comfortable shifting.

Default Question about removing heel shifter......

I loosened the allen screw that holds the heel shifter on, but couldn't pull it off the spline. Did you guys use a gear-puller to pull it off? Thanks!

I was wanting to remove My heal shifter for a long time, but was worried that I would scratch up the primary because I move My feet around quite a bit on the footboards. Finally I decided to only remove the toe peg and left the shifter lever in place. Got a Chrome buttonhead allen bolt at ace hardware to fill in the hole from the toe peg. Looks good and I now have more room on the footboard and no danger of scratching the primary.

The screw has to be completely removed and it will come off.

For ten years I did not use the heal shifter on my 01 Ultra. When I bought my 2011 SG last October I decided to leave the heal shifter on the bike and now have a gotten use to it. I used a chrome spacer on my Ultra when I removed the heal shifter.

Very cool ...... With this setup you could leave your front pad of your foot in contact with the floor board for lighting fast and smooth shifts. With the stock setup it's like kicking a bag of rocks with ever shift or doing the hokee pokey dance.... you stomp your left foot down ... you bring your left foot up ... you beat on levels until you had enough.
