I am experiencing greater travel after the recall fix. Took bike back to dealer and they say that all bikes have that with new switch - though they claim to have rebled the system. Makes no sense to me. Anyone else experience this?
They are playing you for a "know nothing" fool. That is the biggest crock. You want to know how a new switch can effect brake pedal travel? Provided everything else remains the same - it can't!
If all they did was replaced the switch and the brake pedal travel or firmness has been compromised, there is air in the system. No if's, and's or but's about it.
Ask them to explain to you exactly why the brake pedal travel would be different with the new switch. I'd love to hear that answer.
Good luck.

Mine has it too. Haven't gone back in yet, but I actually hope it's "normal" as I like it much more. Still fairly easy to "lock up" (get the ABS to click in), but it actually moves some instead of stepping on a brick.
I agree. Mine had way more travel and they claimed they bled the brakes. The easy fix is to take it home and do it yourself. Took me and a buddy about 30 minutes tops. Now it's as firm as it ever was.
mine too. i drove it right back, they took it in to recheck - said they have to use a special machine that automatically mechanically ensures that there is no air in the lines. i believe this is for abs bikes. they could not sell me on why it should feel different than it did the hour plus getting to the dealers. i could not get them to make it any better though. perhaps it isn't that different, but i had read about potential problems here, so i was leary. by the time i got home over almost two hours later i didn't really see any stopping issues. however, the range of travel and the firmness do appear to be not quite what i had remembered. ...........i would assume that if you really need this machine to ensure no air for abs, then anyone who needs to work on your abs lines needs to have one??? is that correct?

I have always found rear brakes on most MCs to be too stiff and prefer a pedal that gives me braking force but no lockup. Currently (pre-recall switch replacement) that's where I am. Once they sell me a recall switch I plan to bleed the brake myself and put it right back where I like it.
just went through the brakes before recall to almost no brakes after recall.
It could be just me but when I do want to lock up the rear wheel, I want brakes that can do it. I had that before I took it in, now I dont. The brakes were bled twice at the dealer that did the recall. The first time I left I got several stop lights away and the rear brakes wouldnt stop the bike and did a u turn and took it back.
Its pretty sad that the recall fix is worse than the problem that might have happened to 1 out of a million bikes.
