I think that the 204 sounds great in my 96. I ain't a wrench, but my understanding was that this cam produces it's torque a little higher up the rpm band. I had it installed because all of my riding is highway. I am surprised that the 204 got so much support. Why did Jamie recommend the 555?
Call Jamie @ Fuel Moto or Bob Woods...Both of these folks esp. Jamie have more experience than anyone in testing cams and dyno numbers...They will not stear ya wrong
The only way they will steer you too is on the woods as F/M sells Woods cams..
I voted other but I strongly believe the first decision on any build should be, "Who will I get to tune it?" Then most questions on the build should be asked of that person. If your tuner doesn't know, care or buy in to the combination of parts used in a build, you probably won't get the highest degree of satisfaction from the build. If you plan on tuning it yourself, chances are that the cam won't matter as much because most people (most, not all) don't have the tools, ability and patience to tune a fuel injected bike properly. In that case just don't over cam the bike and hope for the best.
Why would that not be the cam? Just curious.......
See post #13. I wouldn't base my choice of cams on my understanding of the function of cams. I like the performance of my bike, but all my riding is touring with a loaded bike(96/204).
