HD Jim - I can say that the FCS has been pretty thoroughly tested on the SG and several softails. I probably have close to 150 hours of riding/testing on my Deluxe. As far as I am concerned, this thing works on any and every Harley and I've started talking to "other V-twins" as well.
D
That settles it then ! Momma is getting a FCS on her Nightster she keeps eyeing my SG for some reason lol
I just picked up the OEM mounts for the sportster, looking at the models that come with the horn mounted with a 2 piece mount, I believe the mount half can be flipped upside down to move the fans into the best position for cooling. Like the horn mounts, I'm sure it can be done, just got to work out the details. I'll be working with one of they guys at work to mount to his sporty, I'll post here how it works out.
It was 100F in Houston yesterday (and 80% humidity) so my 2 hour "pleasure" ride was (at times) a trial.
The FCS worked fantastic AFTER I discovered I had accidentally turned it off. I took off from the house and in just a few minutes, I noticed the CHT was up to 260F. That never happens with the FCS.
So even though my little "idiot" LED indicator said they were on, sure enough the manual switch had been turned "down" (off) while I was cleaning the bike.
NOTE TO ALL - add the switch to you "Check List" for a ride!!! DUH!!!
I turned them on but the CHT hit 265 before they started to come down to what I usually see (245 on the HW). Man o Man are those things Great!!!
Just wondering, I have see threads of "lesser importance" posted under "Sticky" ! Why is Jason's FCS not there yet ? Jason is a "Man Of His Word" and one hell of a craftsman, can we elevate this to the top "sticky" section ? What has to take place, to "qualify" for this ?
Craig
Terry replied as to the process. They are a bit "overloaded" w/ Sticky's right now so I took an action to "remind" him about the thread at some point in the future.
In the mean team, it looks like it is up to us to "spread the word" throughout the Forum.
Jason, in post #993 you state "This switch will simply be "glued" in with RTV between the head fins". I googled RTV and came up with a few options, is there one particular brand that you find works well for this application? Until now I haven't had any experience with RTV and I don't know if there are any brands that should be avoided. Thanks
